OUR WEDDING // MY DRESS, ACCESSORIES & MAKEUP

So...I got married! If you are an instagrammer, and follow my page @morganalicebeauty you will have seen that I got married on the 10th July to my best friend. Welcome to the first of my string of wedding posts. It seriously was the best day of my life and I have been so excited to share all the details with you. I have been asked alot of questions on various aspects of the day and I hope that doing a few different themed posts will show day in all its happiness and beauty: from the bunting, the pink lemonade, the bow ties and the jam jars. I hope these posts will give others who are planning their dream wedding some inspiration and tips. Enjoy!

This first post is all about the details of my outfit. My dress was Hazel by Madeline Isaac James, which I got from a gorgeous boutique bridal shop in my hometown of Colchester called Mili Mili Bridal. Mili Mili is such a pretty boutique, which exudes an aura of calm and elegance. I knew when I walked in and saw the unique lace dresses that I would choose 'the one' from there... and I ended up going back to get my veil, shoes and hair piece from there too! It's better to keep things simple I suppose. I knew I wanted a simple, lace, strapless dress without any princess puffs or glitzy sparkles, and when I saw Hazel I knew it would fit in perfectly with the theme I was going for- timeless and english with a vintage flair. In most bridal shops you can choose a custom made veil to match your dress, so I chose a two tiered floating veil with a floral lace edge. I absolutely loved my veil! It completed my outfit and I didn't take it off all day. I also knew that I wanted plain and simple satin court shoes, that wouldn't fight with the beautiful hem of my dress. They were 'perfect bridal' court shoes.

When trying to plan my outfit in my head, I had the most troubles over my hair and hair accessories. I started off by imaging my hair up in a loose bun with an oversized vintage slide in one side. This idea didn't go with the strapless dress. I then moved on to wanting a hippy-esque floral crown; but I felt that was a bit done by this summer! When I found this gorgeous hair peice from Mili Mili, I was immediately sold, and the hairstyle sort of naturally evolved. Loose curls with a rope twist was the final choice. I am a fairly indecisive person, especially when it comes down to my wedding day, and so when I saw this hair piece and didn't feel like looking anywhere else for an alternative, I knew I had to have it. My advice to you is- when trying to decide your bridal hairstyle, choose your accessory first and everything else will fall into place.

After the dress, hairstyle and accessories were decided upon, it was time to turn the focus to makeup. I knew from the start I wanted the look to be very soft and natural- no thick eyeliner or dark lipstick, as this wouldn't have gone with the vintage, and laid back theme I was going for. Peachy pink lips, hazy eyes, thick lashes and rosy cheeks. I decided on MAC pattisserie lustre lipstick coupled with MAC staunchly stylish lip liner. Of course, my lids were dusted with my favourite ever shadow; MAC naked lunch. My makeup and hair was done by the talented Leigh from curls swirls and beautiful girls, and I was so happy with the finished loo. The biggest beauty tip is to have a trial, and be completely honest with all your suppliers. Be specific and exact when you explain what you want and don't be afraid to say if you're not happy! One last tip; eyelash extensions! As I was going off on honeymoon the day after the wedding, eyelash extensions were always something I wanted (it meant I didn't have to wear makeup for two weeks!). Of course, on top of the holiday factor, eyelash extensions and no mascara meant that if I cried on the day there wouldn't be black lines streaking down my face.

I asked my florist for a few wired flowers to use on the day in everyone's hair; a last minute idea which worked perfectly!

This is my first of four wedding posts, make sure you check out my next one on all the gorgeous pink and english flowers, the venue and the handmade decor.
